CODER & RUNKLE WIN!
Driver Terry Coder and Crew Chief Jerry Runkle scored their first ever A-Main Feature win at Thunderhill Speedway on April 18th. Coder started the 18-lap feature race in 5th position and came on strong in his Runkle-powered #42c Factory Stock to lead from the half way point on. Fighting a power steering system problem, Coder got “a bit squirrely” in turn 4 of the final lap to add some excitement to the finish. Coder started the evening with a 5th place finish in his heat race after being “turned” while attempting a pass into first.

The race was the second of the season for Coder and Runkle, who were scored 11th at Thunderhill on April 11th after a power steering problem resulted in an early season encounter with the wall during their heat and a DNF for the feature. The Coder Racing Team is currently second in season points, being 7 points behind first place.

“I never thought we would see the day” was Jim Coder’s reaction to the win, which ended a nine year winless streak for Coder Racing at Thunderhill. Mom Coder was ecstatic. Coder’s last win was in the 2003 Capitol City Clash at Heartland Park, when he finished second but was later credited the win due to disqualification of the lead car.

Coder wishes to thank all his sponsors and of course his Reiki Master and spiritual advisor, Neil Tam, for his performance enhancement and relaxation sessions.Terry Coder and the 42c

CODER HOT LAPS AT CHARLOTTE!

Terry Coder gives a big thank you to friends, family, and sponsors for the fantastic 50th Birthday trip to Lowes MotorSpeedway in Charlotte, NC. The November 2008 trip included a one day session at the Fast Track driving school, where Coder reached speeds of 140 to 150 mph, just off the track record of 186 mph.

Following Coder’s 24 solo laps, his driving coach said, “You did an awesome job and we liked what we saw. Can you come back and show us more?” Perhaps what they “saw” was Judy Coder’s credit card.

Besides the day at Lowes MotorSports Speedway, the trip included two days of sight seeing which included stops at Hendrix Motorsports and the Jimmy Johnson and Jeff Gordon Shops. Judy and Terry also toured the “Dale Earnhardt Trail” and visited the Richard Childress Racing facilities and Richard Petty Museum. In Mooresville, NC, the Coders saw the headquarters of Rusty Wallace Racing, Rouse Fenway Racing, Penske Racing, Team Red Bull and others. Judy’s favorite was the “Quaker Steak and Lube” restaurant.

Coder had the time of his life and thanks Judy Coder, Sarah Zlatnik, Jim and Dorothy Coder, Tim and Marlene Coder, Mike and Tammy Mikinski, Don and Sharon Hutley, Jerry Runkle, Barbara Harris, Mike and Patti Gunter, Nancy and Doug McKenzie, Michiko and Bill Snell, and Dan and Lori Miller for the wonderful gift. These friends and family made turning fifty an awesome thing where life really begins for Coder.

JUDY CODER RUNS MARATHON

On January 18th, 2009, Judy Coder and her beautiful daughter, Sarah Zlatnik, completed the 26.2 mile Rock and Roll Marathon in Phoenix, AZ with a blistering time of 6 hours 13 minutes. Judy ran in memory of her father, Morris Harris, and with Sarah raised over $8,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

“I ran 26.2 miles. That may seem like a lot of effort, but does not compare to the daily struggles my father faced during the 7 years he battled cancer,” says Judy. “While he was battling Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, he helped so many others by giving advice in support groups and by trying experimental treatments to help find a cure. I am continuing his efforts by raising money to fund research and support groups. Thank you for your generous donations.”

The running bug has really bitten Judy. She will be competing in a half marathon in Lincoln, NE on May 2. GO FAST AND TURN LEFT JUDY!
